NOTE: This is very cool and extremely easy.
Many people use Alt-Tab on their PC to swap between windows on their desktop. When you hit the Tab key while holding Alt, Windows XP will show a small screen with icons of the windows you have open. These icons are not very descriptive and do not show a screenshot of what is open in that window. That’s okay because Microsoft has a PowerToy called Alt-Tab Task Switcher to help you when you have multiple windows open.
So if you use your keyboard to switch windows, this is a very nice and useful enhancement to have. Here is Microsoft’s description of this tool:
With this PowerToy, in addition to seeing the icon of the application window you are switching to, you will also see a preview of the page. This helps particularly when multiple sessions of an application are open.
All you have to do is download and install the Task Switcher. It is a very small download and a quick and easy install. Download here:
Download the TaskSwitcher PowerToy from Microsoft
Now that the new Task Switcher is installed, open up several windows (it doesn’t matter what they are, you just need a few windows open). Hold down ALT and hit TAB and you should see the new Task Switcher in action. Here is what mine looks like.

As you can see, the screenshot shows you the active contents of the window you have selected. Nice!
