Many people are confused because they don’t know where the Blind Carbon Copy (Bcc) button went in Outlook 2007. By default, this option/button is disabled in Outlook 2007. Don’t worry, you can get it back in just a few clicks. Here’s how to enable the Bcc field in Outlook 2007.
Make sure you have Outlook 2007 open. In the upper left-hand corner click the “New Message” button.

When the new message opens, click the “Options” tab and then click the “Show Bcc” button.

Now when you compose a new message you will automatically see the Bcc field.

And yes, Outlook 2007 saves this setting so you will see the Bcc field on every new email message you create.

Does anyone know how to retain the FROM field in an Outlook template? I can add it, save, close but when I reopen it, is does not remain. Thanks, Kathleen
@Kathleen – Are you enabling the from field like this??
http://onlineitpro.com/?p=395
I am putting in an email address configured like blank@blank.com, a work address, but the address doesn’t save
@Kathleen – So it seems you mean you want the computer to automatically display the email address when you begin typing b-l-a-….
Is that what you are trying to accomplish?
@Kathleen, if that is what you mean I would definitely add that person as a contact (with their email address) under Outlook and give it another try
Hi, No. I am making a template that anyone in my group can use but with the FROM configured into it. I need to be able to put the FROM address into it and have it save when I reopen it. That way I ensure this type of email purpose is always sent from the same FROM address.
@Kathleen – I see what you are trying to accomplish now. I am really not aware of a way to set a specific from address in Outlook that anyone in your group can send from. It will only display from the email that you are sending.
The only way I can think of to solve this is by trying to type in a specific from address when you send the email in Outlook.
1 – Enable the “From” button
2 – Enter in the address that you want to send the email from
Outside of this, I don’t know of a way to set a From address for a specific group of people for a specific type of email.
in my case, I have set my Bcc on in the new message section.
However, in the inbox, opening the mail only shows From, To, and Subject for items that were sent before I enabled it
@ilinkcs – You are correct. It will only show the field in your inbox after you have enabled it in your Outlook profile.
Hi Guys,
When you send an e-mail to someone you have BCCd, how do they see the BCC in the message they open, our users can only see To: and CC:
John.
@ John – In Oulook there isn’t a field/line that will show you that you were BCC’d on an email.
I am assuming the thinking behind that logic is that Microsoft doesn’t want a BCC line because the sender doesn’t want the other recipients to know that a blind copy was sent to a different recipient.
This is the easiest way to know if you have been sent an email as a BCC recipient:
Look at the message header and if the “From” and “To” lines both show the name of the person who sent it to you, and the “CC” field is blank, or does not include your name, a Blind Copy has been sent to you.
I do think it would be extremely helpful if Outlook had a feature integrated in, like the BlackBerry where at the top of the email it could say something like “You were BCC’d”
Hi,
I have just upgraded to Outlook 2007.
Each month I send out an e-mail and I dont want people to see who is on it so i enter their names in BCC.
When i open up the message I sent the BCC is now blank. In 2003 it used to contain the addresses that i could cut and paste to this months e-mail.
How can I find the BCC contents of a mail I sent out last month in Outlook 2007.
Cheers
Chris
I just tried to check upon the addresses that I put in the BCC-field of an e-mail that I’ve sent out some 2 weeks agor. I wanted to see if I really had forgotten someone. Unfortunately opening the sent mail does not open the BCC-field.
Do I have to abandon the use of BCC and send individual e-mails in the future if I don’t want the recipient to know who else was addressed or is there a way to check the BCC field of an e-mail sent in the past?
@Chris Ridler @Fbraun – Here’s what to do:
First, make sure you have the “show BCC” button enabled as this article shows.
Next, double click on the message to open the individual message to see all the message details and it will show you the BCC field.
FYI – If you only highlight the message, it will be shown in the preview pane and you won’t be able to see the BCC recipients.
I am hard user of Microsoft Outlook 2007 i wanted to share with you some thing actually when I received an email from 2nd party on that time i know he had already in some one in Bcc but I didn’t know who is he/she kindly will you help me with it how i know how Bcc I can view normally please guide me in this regard. thanks
You know, I didn’t even see Casper’s comment when I made mine (how could I miss that?). Sorry Casper, you had it first!
@Kathleen – I figured out a way to have a template save the “From” field in Outlook 2007 without publishing it as a form. Once you’ve set up your email how you want, select the click on the file menu and instead of selecting “save as”, select “move” and put it in a subfolder within your mailbox (I keep mine in drafts). Now all I have to do is open my drafts folder, double-click the email, and it comes up with the “From” field filled out.
Ignore my above comment. I didnt think the draft was going away but it is.
thanks rea…. i was strugling it to find… bt its on open option ribbon..
How can I check who has been bcc’d on emails that I receive ?
