Windows XP has a desktop cleanup wizard that runs every 60 days by default. So every 60 days it will throw a very annoying pop up prompting to cleanup your desktop. Windows XP has the ability to turn off this automated wizard so it won’t prompt you.
Here’s what the popup balloon looks like.

Right click anywhere on the free space on your desktop and select the “Properties” option.

The Display Properties will now open. Select the “Desktop” tab at the top and then click the “Customize Desktop” button towards the bottom of the window.

The Desktop Items window will open and at the bottom of the window de-select the checkbox next to the “Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 days” and click the “OK” button.

Now you won’t get that annoying pop up window every 60 days.

Thanks again!
@Jean – Glad we could help!
